The Internet trashbag is growing

More and more people discover the Internet. Not very hard to understand why because everything exist there. Software, games, fiends, news. The list can go for ever. So how do we find the pages we are looking for? Of course there is many ways. One way is that you are being told by a friend that a page is extra good for some reason. Another way to find new websites are to push links that lead from a site to another but the most powerful tool to find new sites is to use the search engines. There is many search engines out there. The most popular today is Google and Yahoo. Important to know is that they can't find everything but they try to serve you with what they think is relevant to your search query. This is not very easy. More and more content is added and that's what I want to write about here.
Blogs
A popular phenomenon is blogs. In the last years the blogs have become very many and more will come. Blogs can contain very different kind of things. Personal blogs tend to have a lot of personal information and without any value for the Internet audience as a whole. Of course not every blog post is like this and there is really good blogs too.
Forums
Forums is very common today and there is easy to install a forum on your own site. The format is easy to follow and is often better than a normal site with a page about the same subject. It's easy to follow the discussion and often there is a questions that you have yourself that others have asked before. On the other side there can be a lot of spam posts. There can also be threads about something like "what do you eat this morning?" and that's not very useful information. I have even seen forum categories named spam. Why? I don't know. Maybe they think that if they spam in the spam forum they will not spam anywhere else. I don't know if that's a working plan.
Old guestbooks
Of course all guestbooks contain a lot of unimportant information but I have seen a couple of times that old sites that isn't really in use, they only exist, has guestbooks that is full with spam. It's the spambots fault. There is no point to have a guestbook if there is only spambots that use it. Add some spam filter or delete the whole guestbook.
Summary
There is many other kind of content that also is a problem. So how do the search engines know what is good or bad? We don't know exactly because they have a lot of secrets. We can only say that today it's OK. A problem can be that there is needed a lot of space to store all data that is relevant to build a search engine index. There is also many that tries to manipulate the search engines in different ways. It's called SEO and can also result in difficulties to know if it's really are relevant or not. Maybe it's time to empty the trashbag of Internet!
